From Dan: Clint Eastwood, Mondo Bizarro
posted on August 31, 2012 by Dan
I'm a big Clint Eastwood fan -- love his work and his films -- he's an acting and film-making genius. But his prime, super primetime slot last night did not, in my opinion, serve him or the GOP party well. He seemed as out of place as a moose in a phone booth. The expensive, but surprisingly ill-fitting suit didn't help. Neither did his out-of-control hair. The "Obama-in-an-empty-chair" routine didn't really come off. Too hokey and used too often on TV before. Democrats have had their out of place Hollywood convention moments aplenty in the past, now the Republicans have had theirs. I still like and admire Eastwood plenty. His poorly advised appearance last night is another reminder that there is often little dignity in television -- keeping a sense of dignity and good sense when it comes to appearing on television is tricky at best. (Yes, I'm reminded of how often I myself have failed at it.) But his appearance last night was mondo bizarro.
